My 5 Favourite Overnight Oats

These are great options for breakfast. Very delicious and nutritious. The options are endless with various ingredients to fit your individual taste.

The base ingredients for overnight oats are rolled oats, plain low-fat Greek yogurt, dairy or non-diary milk, chia seeds, honey, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

My favourite milk for these oats recipes is unsweetened coconut or almond milk.

Different extracts like peppermint, coconut, almond or lemon can also be used. The preparation time for each recipe is 5 minutes.

1. VANILLA OVERNIGHT OATS

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • ½  cup rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey

        Instructions

  1.    Whisk together all ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Spoon into a mason jar.
  2.     Refrigerate overnight before eating.

2. TROPICAL COCONUT OVERNIGHT OATS

        Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • ½  cup rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1/3 cup chopped fresh or canned pineapple
  • 1/3 cup chopped mango
  • ½ ripe chopped or mashed banana
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened flaked coconut

        Instructions

  1. Whisk together all ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Spoon into a mason jar.
  2. Refrigerate overnight before eating.

3. CARROT CAKE OATS

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • ½  cup rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and shredded
  • 2 tablespoons softened cream cheese
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

        Instructions

  1.         Whisk together all ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Spoon into a mason jar.
  2.         Refrigerate overnight before eating.

4. COFFEE OVERNIGHT OATS

Ingredients

  • ½  cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup brewed coffee
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons of plain Greek yogurt

Instructions

  1.         Whisk together all ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl with the exception of the yogurt. Spoon into a mason jar.
  2.         Refrigerate overnight and top with the yogurt and your favourite fruit when ready to eat.

5. STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE OATS

Ingredients

  • ½  cup rolled oats
  • 1/3  cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • ¼  cup chopped fresh strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey
  • 3 tablespoons softened cream cheese
  • Zest and juice of ½ lemon

Instructions

  1.         Whisk together all ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Spoon into a mason jar.
  2.         Refrigerate overnight before eating.
